Update on the use and ownership of Paintball markers.

Since our statement on 19th January 2024 and subsequent update on 24th January 2024, we have had a lot of UKPSF members bring up certain aspects of the law. As we are not experts in firearms legislation and do not claim to be, we decided to get further advice from a firearms barrister to seek further clarification on the questions raised. We had tried to keep the advice/guidance simple, which may have left some room for interpretation. So, we are updating our advice as follows: Our core statement is still correct but for clarity will now be a little longer. The following is based on Home Office guidance and advice.  ‘Paintball Markers of any size can only be purchased by those over 18 for use in permitted activities such as skirmishing and re-enactment at a venue where suitable third-party liability insurance is in place. Paintball markers should be fired at no greater than 300 feet per second only with frangible Paintballs and the person in possession of the Paintball marker must ...

Product Warning.. DO NOT BUY THIS !!

It has been brought to our attention from a concerned UKPSF member that there is a high-pressure air system regulator potentially entering the market or could already be on sale that we consider being dangerous. The regulator in question is from a company called FILLBA and looks like this:

The above regulator has been inspected by a Paintball engineer and found to have several failure points and they consider this product extremely dangerous. An extract from the report reads:

‘There are at least two large and obvious failure points on this regulator, both of which would result in the internals (regular piston, springs, and pin) being ejected out of the regulator under 4500psi tank pressure. The tank would also become separated from the top of the regulator/marker and become a potential missile. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend or endorse the use of this regulator in any activity or scenario.’

Those are not the only concerns.

We know that FILLBA are trying to find buyers for this product, but unless they significantly change the design and address the issues, nobody should buy this product. If you see anyone with one attached to a tank please bring this to their attention. Fillba have been contacted but as of now, have not responded.

Stay safe and let’s keep others safe and dangerous products away from Paintball.

Just to clarify some confusion. This safety warning isn’t aimed at the company Fillba as a whole. Just the regulator in the picture (we do not have a name/model number). Fillba make more than one product and several regulators. The S2 and ST2 regulators that FILLBA currently offer do not have the same safety concerns as the regulator pictured.
