Update on the use and ownership of Paintball markers.

Since our statement on 19th January 2024 and subsequent update on 24th January 2024, we have had a lot of UKPSF members bring up certain aspects of the law. As we are not experts in firearms legislation and do not claim to be, we decided to get further advice from a firearms barrister to seek further clarification on the questions raised. We had tried to keep the advice/guidance simple, which may have left some room for interpretation. So, we are updating our advice as follows: Our core statement is still correct but for clarity will now be a little longer. The following is based on Home Office guidance and advice.  ‘Paintball Markers of any size can only be purchased by those over 18 for use in permitted activities such as skirmishing and re-enactment at a venue where suitable third-party liability insurance is in place. Paintball markers should be fired at no greater than 300 feet per second only with frangible Paintballs and the person in possession of the Paintball marker must ...

UKPSF Team Spotlight - Operation Sanbaggers

Formed in 2005, the Sandbaggers pedigree originates in the early days of tournament paintball and carries through to the modern game.

The ‘05 squad was formed by Ledz (Planet Eclipse) from mainly Nexus players, who had retired from pro paintball, and other players well respected in the sport.

The squad has grown but kept the core principle that paintball is about meeting up with friends, playing hard, having fun and sharing the stories in the pub over a pint (several in fact).

The teams sponsorship is impressive and deserved. They are great ambassadors for the sport and their sponsors and always willing to help out those who need it.

The team regularly features on the podium and boasts an impressive selection of silverware including a World Cup!

Currently 3 squads playing at the CPPS (Elite, Div 1 and Div 2), looking at playing the ECPL 10-man and 7-man Woodland World Cup. As well as many other UK based events.

With the expansion of Planet Eclipse into the magfed scene several of the players are now enjoying and adapting to this style of play. It’s been a revelation to the team with great venues and a chance to try out the latest gear alongside seasoned scenario players.

When given the opportunity the Sandbagger Overseas Squad (SOS) travels to events abroad. With limited vocabulary (even in English) the squad manages to find the way to the bar and eventually the field.

If you’re ever wondering if anything new is in the pipeline for Planet you could do worse than watch what the baggers are taking into the field. With the ability to break cannonballs the team are the ideal testers for new or innovative equipment. Watch out for the trademark insulation tape and join the ‘guess the marker’ game.

The Sandbaggers recognise the challenges facing the sport and the work the UKPSF does behind the scenes. All players are UKPSF members and see this as a fundamental requirement to play the sport we love.

We don’t have many rules… We don’t have trails and we don’t want players to ask to join (even though it flatters us). If we want you, we will ask you :-)
